Performance

The new turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder in the Cooper S makes 172 horsepower and teams with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddles for manual-shift capability. A limited-slip differential is optional.

Safety

All-disc antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags are standard.
